Our Purpose and Programs: Every Child is Amazing.
ASAP supports all children with disabilities, especially those who were born prematurely and are facing lifelong health challenges. According to the Center for Disease Control, 1 out of every 8 babies born in the United States are premature. With the advance of medical technology, premature babies are surviving in increasing numbers. Helping them grow and thrive often requires support, as many children born prematurely will face lifelong health challenges and disabilities, including cerebral palsy, learning disorders and motor delays.

ASAP is committed to advocacy and peer support for children with disabilities and their families. Our programs empower children and their families. Our dedicated, experienced volunteers offer advocacy starting at infancy. We organize family fun days and peer support groups that are a source of long-term support and guidance to children and families. We've been operating since 2006, serving more than 300 children and their families. We became a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in 2014. This allows us to collect donations that are tax deductible for our donors, and makes us eligible to receive grant funds to advance our mission and greatly expand our capacity.

Purple Goose Kids Purple Goose Kids (PGK) is our signature program, created to offer support to parents in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), when both parent and child are most fragile. Our advocates are experienced volunteers--many of them are parents of children with special needs--who are dedicated to providing education, resources and support to parents learning to navigate through healthcare services, public education, and social services for their families. One of the most important PGK activities is our Family Fun Day, which offers families a safe, supportive environment for kids to play, have fun and "just be kids." PGK is run entirely by volunteers and has been in operation since 2006 in the greater Washington, DC area. We launched a Las Vegas area PGK program in 2014. |
Wish List Gift Program Many families lack the financial means to fully support their children's special needs. We are committed to helping children and families in need of assistive devices, appropriate learning tools and safe playtime items. Children's need range from equipment to games, to small electronics, and other unique items. For larger and higher-cost items, we host fundraisers to help the family acquire the item(s) they need. You can help by making a donation or purchasing items from our ASAP Family Wish List. Gifts are given directly to the family in need. Please be sure to include your information so we can provide you with a gift tax receipt and a thank you letter. We appreciate your support! |

Under the skilled leadership of a talented singer and performer, we are launching our Purple Goose Children's Choir program in Spring 2016. The choir will welcome children ages 8 to 12 of all abilities. Choir Director, Olivia Rhee, is a Las Vegas-based international singer who has been performing for more than two decades. Since graduating New York University's Gallatin School with a master's degree, she has performed one-woman musical shows in New York City, San Diego, and most recently, at the annual Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland from 2010 to 2014. Olivia's work celebrates accomplishing one's dreams as well as promoting one's health. |
